Murals for Schools Murals! They add color to the walls, tie together school themes, projects, and interests of the children. Have your student body participate in a school mural project. There is nothing else quite like it!!
Whether you envision extravagant murals or simplistic design, fellow artist/art teacher Luanne Wrenn, is the best choice for your student’s artistic guidance. She has created murals ranging from large to small whimsical to historical in homes, businesses, and schools. Students become involved at whatever level is desired by the staff. Their involvement can be from the planning to painting stages. Some prefer to have the artist do the actual creating, involving the students in the planning part only. Others prefer to have the students participate in the painting portion as well. Mural painting is a great way to bring together school and community, creating murals which reflect history or special aspects of the town. Mural painting can also tie into educational themes. They look great too! Mural projects can range from two days to a week long. Additional planning time my be desired by the staff. Project time can range from whole days with one or two selected groups or the entire student body. Plan on four- six hours of painting a day. The school will be responsible for priming the space prior to the beginning of the mural project. The school must provide some of the brushes, a water supply, and a discussion area, (classroom or gym). Non toxic, acrylic and latex paints are included. Luanne is a sixteen year veteran certified art teacher with plenty of experience motivating youngsters and keeping them on task. Luanne is available to come to your school where she will work with children, teachers, parents, and community to foster the creation of a beautiful mural. Along with students, Luanne creates exciting spaces. This can involve entire rooms, halls or one wall. Instead of drab walls the students will help create rooms that become planets, an underwater adventure, a jungle, or interior of a space ship. The only limit is the staff and student’s desire and imagination!
